Ta-Matoran are the Matoran tribe of Fire. If they are destined to do so, they can be transformed into Ta-Toa, who can later be transformed into Ta-Turaga. Members of this tribe often wear armor in red, orange, yellow, or black.

Overview

Ta-Matoran

Ta-Matoran are known for their reckless bravery and courage; they prefer heated environments, such as volcanic foothills or geyser fields. A significant minority of Ta-Matoran populate the hotsprings of the Ontahura region of the Southern Continent, but the largest numbers can be found in Ta-Metru (Metru Nui’s industrial district), where they work in the forges and refineries, building weapons, masks, armor, and other tools. The most accomplished among them are known for forging masks of power.

Most Ta-Matoran are passionate and hearty folk. Their bodies and armor have a natural resistance to heat, allowing them to work at the forges and in Ta-Metru’s warm climate with little to no discomfort; conversely, Ta-Matoran tend to dislike the cold. Other Matoran may say they are quick to anger and act too recklessly, but few others are as determined and courageous as the Ta-Matoran are. Inclined to natural ambition, once they have their mind set on a task, they will not stop until they have completed it. These traits often make them well-suited for leadership positions (although other Matoran frequently refute this idea). In Metru Nui, their main rivals are the Po-Matoran, and the two groups will often compete to see which Metru has the better crafters.

Ta-Toa

Most Toa of Fire begin life as Ta-Matoran. Toa of Fire are known throughout the Matoran world for their bravery and acts of valor. One of the six primary types of Toa, they are a common sight in the universe, and can be found in nearly every land, civilized or otherwise. Members of this tribe are prone to martial prowess and often assert themselves into leadership roles when in groups, though this rule is by no means hard and fast.

Brash and duty-driven, Toa of this tribe are expected to show both bravery in the face of danger, and loyalty to those they deem worthy of their protection. Since their courageous nature gives them a natural affinity for command, they will often naturally gravitate towards a position of leadership in any team, although this is not absolute. Most Toa of Fire are headstrong and fierce, and will stand up for their friends and their beliefs, no matter the cost. They are direct and goal-oriented, preferring cases with clear instances of right and wrong, even when there are shades of gray in a situation. As a result, members of other tribes, most notably Ga-Toa and Ko-Toa, can find them insufferable due to their single-mindedness, but for a Ta-Toa, a life without passion is not worth living.

Ta-Turaga

Turaga of Fire often retain their inclination for leadership, and tend to be the most willing to take up that role should the need present itself. Although the recklessness of their younger days has usually been tempered to some degree by years of experience and some hard-earned wisdom, Ta-Turaga are not to be trifled with; many will defend their charges to the death, and the loyalty they inspire in others is not to be underestimated.
