The Lava Crawler species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|63|entryname=The Makuta}}

Lava Crawlers established a small colony in the [[Voya Nui]] region of the [[Southern Continent]], particularly around [[Mount Valmai]]. When the [[Great Cataclysm]] caused Voya Nui to rocket upwards to the surface of [[Aqua Magna]], these Lava Crawlers were carried with it and survived the ascent. They continued to live on the island of Voya Nui for 1,000 years. == Abilities and Traits ==

Lava Crawlers are massive in size and have a hard shell.
