== History ==
Like the rest of {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}, it was created by the accidental activation of {{p|Mata Nui|Being}}'s camouflage system by the [[Great Cataclysm]]. The village of [[Le-Koro]] was built upon the trees that grew in the lake, being centered on an enormous tree that grew on the edge of the lake. On the banks, there was a rock with an inscription about the [[Bohrok]].

[[Takua]] and [[Taipu]] journeyed here from the newly built [[Le-Koro Highway]] in [[Onu-Wahi]]. [[Tamaru]] was later stationed here, due to his fear of heights, to guard against any [[Rahi]] attempting to scale the trees to Le-Koro. He soon abandoned this post to join the [[Chronicler's Company]], as only flying Rahi were attacking.

Lake Kanae was cleared of substance by the Bohrok swarms and eventually destroyed by [[Mata Nui's Reawakening]].
