On Metru Nui, Gadjati lived and worked in [[Po-Metru]]. He was captured by the [[Vahki]] under the command of [[Makuta]] [[Teridax]], disguised as [[Turaga]] [[Dume]]. He was then forced into a [[Matoran Sphere]] but was later rescued by the [[Toa Metru]] and awakened on the shores of [[Naho Bay]] on the island of {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}.{{BookCitation|BA4}}

As a consequence of being held in a Matoran Sphere, Gadjati reduced in size and strength, losing memories of Metru Nui as well. In the early years of the Dark Time, he helped in the building of [[Po-Koro]], following Turaga [[Onewa]]'s direction and making use of parts from [[Airship]]s in which the [[Toa]] had traveled to Mata Nui with the Matoran.{{BookCitation|BW}}

On Mata Nui, Gadjati was a stone [[Matoran Occupations#Mata Nui Occupations|Hewer]] from Po-Koro. He worked hewing stones so they were ready for carving.{{OnlineCitation|MNOG2|6}}

Gadjati evacuated to [[Ga-Koro]] with the rest of the Po-Matoran after [[Tahnok]] swarms [[Attack on Po-Koro|attacked]] Po-Koro during the [[Bohrok Invasion]]. After the [[Pahrak]] swarms [[Attack on Ga-Koro|surrounded]] Ga-Koro, Gadjati made a final stand along with all the other [[Matoran]] present before the [[Bahrag]] were [[Battle in the Bohrok Nest|defeated]] by the [[Toa Mata]]. Gadjati helped in the construction of [[boat]]s to facilitate his and the other Matoran's return to Metru Nui. He also assisted in restoration work, to rebuild broken parts of the city. He temporarily stopped his work of reconstruction on order of [[Jaller]], to force the Turaga to reveal where the [[Toa Nuva]] had gone, but he eventually got back to work.{{BookCitation|BL1}}

When Makuta Teridax announced his conquest of the [[Matoran Universe]], Gadjati and the other Po-Matoran were ordered by the new "Turaga" [[Ahkmou]] to carve statues of the Makuta.{{OnlineCitation|RoS|3}}
