== History ==
The Colony Drone species was created by the [[Makuta]] using [[Virus]]es and [[Protodermis#Liquid Protodermis|Liquid Protodermis]] to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the [[Matoran Universe]].{{BookCitation|MGttU|entryname=The Makuta|page=63}}

After the [[Brotherhood of Makuta]] conquered the {{p|Visorak|Rahi}}, Colony Drones were captured to be slaves to the horde. When the Visorak would migrate to new lands, they would take along many of these [[Rahi]] in containers and use their abilities to create energy spinners as food for the horde.{{BookCitation|RB|entryname=Colony Drone|page=18}}

When the Visorak invaded the homeland of [[Toa]] [[Chiara]], they brought along their Colony Drones. Chiara snuck into the Drones' enclosure and [[Lightning|electrified]] them, so that any time the Visorak attempted to feed from the Drones, they would be shocked. When the Visorak went to find other sources of nourishment, they were picked off by Chiara.{{OnlineCitation|TYQ|1}}

During the invasion of [[Metru Nui]], the [[Rahaga]] debated over whether to have [[Metru Mantis]]es attack the Drones, thus weakening the Visorak hordes. When all the Visorak were drawn to the island of [[Artidax]] and killed by the volcanic eruption, the Colony Drones were released from service. However, when Makuta [[Teridax]] took over Mata Nui's body and recreated the Visorak, the Colony Drones were recaptured to support the horde.{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=237|post=9444}}

After the [[Great Spirit Robot]] was critically damaged in the [[Battle of Bara Magna]], the Visorak horde dispersed, and many Colony Drones emigrated from the Matoran Universe to [[Spherus Magna]].{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=300|post=11964|lines=5,12}}

== Abilities and Traits ==
Colony Drones' [[Rhotuka]] spinners are made of an energy that other Rahi, like the Visorak, can feed off of.
