On Metru Nui, Akamu lived and worked in [[Onu-Metru]].

He was captured by the [[Vahki]] under the command of [[Makuta]] [[Teridax]], disguised as [[Turaga]] [[Dume]]. He was then forced into a [[Matoran Sphere]] but was later [[Great Rescue|rescued]] by the [[Toa Metru]] and awakened on the shores of [[Naho Bay]] on the island of {{p|Mata Nui|Location}}.

Akamu was physically diminished in size and strength and he also forgot his memories of Metru Nui, as a result of his confinement in a Matoran Sphere. In spite of this, under Turaga [[Whenua]], he helped in the construction of [[Onu-Koro]], utilizing materials from [[Airship]]s used to transport the Matoran to Mata Nui.{{BookCitation|BW}}

In Onu-Koro, Akamu was a [[Crafter]] who created the Sluice, a tool used to collect [[Protodermis]]. He and the other Onu-Matoran left Onu-Koro temporarily when [[Bohrok]] [[Bohrok Invasion#Invention in Onu-Koro|invaded]]. During [[The Rebuilding]], Akamu was rebuilt into a stronger form. When the [[Rahkshi]] [[Attack on Onu-Koro|attacked]] Onu-Koro, Akamu was evacuated from the village with the other [[Matoran]].

=== Return to Metru Nui ===
Akamu aided in the construction of [[Boat]]s to return to Metru Nui. Upon arrival, he joined his fellow Matoran in a mass reconstruction effort, to repair the city which had been damaged during the Dark Time. He temporarily stopped his work of reconstruction on order of [[Jaller]], to force the Turaga to reveal where the [[Toa Nuva]] had gone, but he eventually got back to work.

Akamu and the other remaining Matoran in the city later left for [[Spherus Magna]], following the [[Battle of Bara Magna]] which concluded in the death of Teridax, rendering the [[Great Spirit Robot]] incapacitated.{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=295|post=11800|lines=8,9}}{{GregCitation|OGDi|page=297|post=11859}}
